Mother Earth: a reflection of our sacred space.

Earth is an incredibly beautiful, almost perfect planet in our solar system. Without doubt, she offers an experience like no other. Is she so by chance or is there another intelligence that makes her so? Holding this mystery that is continually unknown, she urges you to seek further and deeper no matter how far you may have come.

Joseph Campbell said, “Your sacred space is where you find yourself again and again”.
According to some belief systems we are born multiple times on earth. If that be so; she seems to be a sacred space that we keep finding ourselves in again and again.

Is she the sacred space outside of us that is reflective of the sacred space within ourselves?

Mother Earth is also Mother Nature.

In seeking the eternal question – Who am I? We seek to understand our immutable infinite timeless self — which we can really only understand by understanding and realising our true nature.

Today, most of us identify natural spaces as landscaped gardens. However, Mother Nature really shows up in her verdant glory only in spaces that are largely untouched by man; which today, are few and far between. If you happen to know some of them you will find her magnificence of natural beauty within the diversity and variety of her creations; forests, seas, corals, mountains, valleys, flora, fauna, sunsets, sunrises… What we as humans seem to have forgotten is that we too are one of her creations.

The true purpose of natures beauty is to:
– create wonder and awe
– inspire a feeling of transcendence
– evoke the realisation that we are part of nature
– realise there is an intelligence which balances this divine perfection called Nature.

The true purpose of life is to find that connection with Source. An undeniable fundamental alignment that you can anchor yourself within and live from.

Soil is Soul.

Natural gardening proposes soil is king.

Natural living proposes soul is king.

Soil is Soul. Thats how nature speaks to us.

Soil is soul

So what is the magic of good soil? One that grows things easily, with great quality and quantity. Soft, pliable and nutrient rich. That which hosts a number of supportive ‘bugs’ all of whom are working judiciously on supporting that which is growing in its environment.

Today we have two types of soil – interfered soil and non interfered soil. Interfered soil is that in which man has decided he knows best and seeks to create something commercially viable. Of course there are degrees of interference – some farm through organic interference and others through intensive means.

Loosely considered the father of Natural farming: Masanobu Fukuoka was a proponent of ‘do-nothing’ farming. A philosopher and a farmer he was able to maximise productivity through his observation of the perfection of nature.

So natural farming/LIVING involves engagement and assistance over interference. It recognises the need to understand how life works, what it comprises.

In the case of soils, how different ones respond in different ways, each producing its own incredible plethora of flora in turn attracting its special fauna.

Forest soil is the most fertile. Thats mostly because there is very little human interference. It is also because there is a wide variety and multi layered growth. Every part of the forest floor is used. Ground cover, weeds, bushes, plants, creepers, trees, all exist in the forest. Light is harvested to the maximum, it is completely absorbed by whatever can be grown. A dynamic combination of growth coexist, supplement and support each other. Seeds engage with soil and have the opportunity to germinate and grow and bloom and fruit.
This incredible diversity pulls out the maximum from the soil only to give back to it a multiverse of potential and power packed leaves. Through natural processes(composting) they create even more nutrient rich and power packed soil; feeding back to the tree what it needs. This incredible natural cycle supports the existence of not only amazing plant growth but a number of interdependent species as well — each of which come from the soil and end up by giving back to the soil.

Our soul is the same. Continue reading Soil is Soul.

Compost your life away…

Sitting down in a meadow one day a gush of wind blew my way. It brought with it a refreshing and cooling feeling and a bunch of leaves that were shaken lose.

As I sat there I saw the cushion these leaves made on the ground. They floated down one by one and they gathered at the base of the tree’s mound. I smiled and thought with glee “oh wow – thats the softest carpet going around”.

I went up to the tree and just lightly hugged it a bit and the soft leaves some crunchy and others just melted with my weight.

And thats when the tree spoke to me and said you are just like me. Here I stand big and tall. Easily growing leaves and letting go of those that no longer hold strong. I choose not to hold on to things that no longer serve me. For sometimes in letting go, is when they are of the best use to me.

So this is what I understood that day. I understood that the tree is so great and perfect and tall weathers every ‘weather’ and still stays strong. It goes through the winter and sheds all its leaves, and then comes spring and it happily grows a whole ‘treeful’ more. Change is constant in nature as we have all seen; and yet it is the one thing that we fight hard to allow and resist to the maximum.

Going even beyond, the leaves the tree lets go off, becomes its compost and merges back with its soil lifting it nourishing it nurturing it back to health and power; feeding it back to the roots of the tree making them deeper, stronger, potent so that the tree might grow higher, taller, bigger, better.

So the tree never loses in letting go, it only gains much much more.

Similarly, with every fear, resistance, blockage you let go off, it falls into your energetic space and converts through a potent form of transformation into a cannonball of energy that will push you on. So in the purest of senses there is no real letting go; just the allowing of transformative charge to take over and flood your life.

So compost your life. Shed your half baked leaves/emotions/thoughts, let them go and settle down into your core and from there allow them to transform into an incredible potent wisdom and power that you currently don’t know of.

Whoever you become, there will come a day when you will let go of that too till you are evolving deeper and deeper into a truer you.

Happy Earth week! ❤️

Thank you to you, that hurt me…

It matters not what someone has done to you — what matters is what do you do about it.

At some point you must consider that you are not a mistake in life — you are a creation of the perfect divine force and you have been created for a reason. So take a breath and stop for a moment and say; “I EXIST – and just the fact I exist, shows I was meant to exist — I am not a mistake in this otherwise divinely perfect world (which of course it is without human intervention). Therefore, if I exist in a divinely perfect world and I am a divinely perfect creation could it be possible that everything I have gone through and am going through is possibly divinely perfect too? So if every single event in my life has happened for a reason — whether someone has done any of the things listed above or worse — it has happened because it was meant to. Why has it happened so?

There are no general answers only specific ones completely related to your specific reason for existence.

Everything has happened because it was meant to. Depending on where you stand in your journey this statement might make complete sense or it may be the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard.

Anger may jump up and say; “that thing — that worst thing that happened to me, happened to me for a reason? NO thats not possible — it is ‘xyz’ fault and they are to blame. They are the worst kind of humans and they deserve to be punished”.

Maybe so;  Maybe they will be; maybe they won’t. That’s not for you to know.

You can spend your life focusing on their retribution or you could spend your life rehabilitating your own. That is what it comes down to.

What will you choose to do with your life and all the many complications it holds? Sometimes when we see ‘new age spirituality’ and it all talks of unicorns and angels and happy beings — we think its all gobbledygook. Well to those that have walked on their path of transformation it isn’t. The world looks clearer, more beautiful and easier than you could imagine while still standing on the side of anger and frustration and revenge.

The first thing is you take responsibility for everything that has happened and you may find yourself saying;

Let me consider — just consider that everything in my life has happened for a reason? Well, what was that reason? Why did/do I have to suffer like this? Why is there so much pain and confusion and hurt and anger and frustration and despair and grief logged into me? Why do these cloud my every day — and why is it that they don’t let go of me? Why is it I don’t let go of them? I can’t…I can’t find the strength or the ability to let go — I don’t know how — its just too much and its too hard — and no one would understand and there is no way I can open up myself — there is too much shame/guilt/pain/anger/hate. I will pretend yes thats what I will do — I will push all these bad emotions away so deep inside that they will never again see the light of day .No one can or will know this space inside. In fact you know what? I myself will soon forget what hides from the light”.

Enlightenment is a big word nowadays — so many seek it — unaware that what it really refers to. Bringing in more light into the shadows and darkness of your inner cave; everyday.

I know, I truly know what that feeling is like. It can be overwhelming, painful, unbearable, insane, confusing, lost at times; but if you stay on course it will certainly bring clarity, ease, peace, comfort, happiness and love.

So to each one that has hurt you — incident, experience, person, words, disease, or yourself — know they push you on to discover the truth of your SELF.

They bring out the feelings that we would otherwise hide and offer us an opportunity, a window to peek inside. They push us, encourage us, force us even; depending on how resistant we are to peek within.
It starts with a peek, once you take that step, the power of support, guidance, blessings will flood your path and you will be continuously encouraged on your every step.

It isn’t always a candy floss experience — some days are dark and some nights are heavy but continue to persevere and be the warrior to fight the battle that has arisen — between your own darkness and light.

You are here for a reason and one reason alone — to heal yourself and know the truth of your whole. So if you go off radar/direction you will find that the Universe will bring you back in line.

The tougher the lessons, the greater your strength and the more power you will have when you do decide to dive within.

BE real, be honest and allow the divine to take you into the ride of your life.

Then will come the day that you will surely say; “Thank you” to all the detractors that came your way.

Sacrifice, its energy and what is the truth?

run away from the world

Sacrifice yourself. How does this word make you feel?

Surrender yourself. How does this word make you feel?

Sacrifice is a belief we need to give up something outside of ourselves — an outer expression. Every traditional way of life or religion is based on the energy of sacrifice. We don’t even realise how strong this energy is and how it reflects in all aspects of our life. As a parent we sacrifice our happiness and needs for our children. As partners we sacrifice our freedom for the other. As children we sacrifice our truth for our parents.                                  It matters not — somehow or the other there is a belief that we cannot be all that we wish to be as it is virtuous to give up something related to our power, energy, happiness, joy, fulfilment  passions for the power, energy, happiness, joy, fulfilment, passions of another.
Essentially we sacrifice ourselves for another. We do this sometimes within a space of martyrdom or victimhood claiming to feel oddly better than the other, because we have given up more of our selves, and feel superior about it. Our suffering we believe reflects a mark of goodness and virtue.

What is surrender; if it is not sacrifice? Continue reading Sacrifice, its energy and what is the truth?

Beware! Swimming can help you find your true self.

Beware or be aware?

#fear #swimming #navigating #innerjourney #trust #ease #letting go

Go back to the first time you were going to swim. Whatever the age the first time you thought of entering the pool or ocean or lake or river — you hesitated — maybe you were too young and you dived in — but you probably took a moment to think about it.

You made sure you went into the shallow area first.

You tested the water — hot or cold? How did it feel?

You waited to see what would happen to the other who went in first.

Doubts assailed you — you wondered would you drown or float? What if you died and no one was there was save you? What if you embarrassed yourself? Could you trust the one saying “jump in, jump in”?

From the edge of the pool or the shoreline it looks all so easy and you think wow! This is really something – these swimmers and surfers they are having a great time — and then your doubts take over and you think you could not swim or surf like them — it must be a gift they have — but every swimmer and surfer will tell you it’s a learned skill.

Some of you might not even want to try because as much as you see the fun — you see the occasional fall and the going under water and coming up choking for breath…and you think, ‘they must be crazy — i’m not going to do that. I prefer to sit on the sidelines and watch, certainly seems safer than to engage’.

Water represents the emotional realm of who we are. We see the ease it holds but then we see the depth it carries with it. Tough life experiences shape our ability to take risks. Some of us create a safety net and we either steer clear of anything that might bring up those dark hidden memories within. Most of these memories carry the trauma of pain of some kind; and who wants to experience pain? So we might just play around but diving in, is where we draw the line. We seek safety in life; one that keeps us safe from experiencing the pain held within. However a true inner journey strips away at that safety net. We know this, we can sense it and so we are nervous and scared. We aren’t sure we want to do it — our mind tells us we won’t get out of it sane or alive. This journey can’t lead us anywhere or do anything good. The doubts cage us in like heavy snow on a driveway. We freeze ourselves to numbness, refusing to thaw to the space that will actually set us free. However you start your journey – whether you dived in or went in gradually or stayed for long on the sidelines till life pushed you in – you will at some point reach the frozen parts that need thawing.

You dip your foot in and out till you are ready to step in. Sometimes somebody pushes you into that pool and you sink in thinking, ’this is it; i’m done — goodbye life’.

Yet somehow you float and find yourself rising to the top — you are still in panic – you begin thrashing you head goes in and out of the water — unable to breathe properly — looking for the ground to stand on or the edge to hold onto…then eventually you do find it and you just sit there shellshocked by whats happened.

Thats how the journey is at times,  you try out many things and then you might experience some incredible moments of emotional release or mental breakdowns and you might think  you are never going to be ok again — this is just too tough and rough — you are not going to get out. The darkness fills you up and you cannot see how you will breathe through this or come out of this sane again and then one day you do — you rise to the top of that experience and you take your time to gather yourself and as shellshocked as you are you are also freer having gone through it. Don’t Educate. Inspire to Learn: an ‘ode’ to a true teacher.

I had just started at a new school in my 9th grade. Everything was new for me at this school; the country, the environment, the curriculum, the style…it was nothing like the one I came from. I fell in love with it and somehow even at the age of 14, I knew somehow, this was a vital point in my life – a shift from what was to what could be.

Yet I didn’t expect Mr. A. He was our history teacher. Yet he hadn’t arrived. This was really out of the box for me. I had never had a teacher come tardy to school. He was 2 weeks late. We were curious to meet this teacher. He was also new at school.

He didn’t disappoint. He entered the school like a fresh breeze blowing. He was funny, easy, relaxed and very open about all aspects of his life. A bit too open if you ask me now that I am a parent.:)
Yet as 9th graders we all fell in love. Here was someone who openly spoke of challenging rules, he questioned authority, made us question everything we believed in. He taught us history like it was poetry. He turned it into the most fascinating movie we would ever experience. He talked with such depth and love for his subject. He knew it so well that no class was ever structured – we had an idea of the texts we were following but no structure of how they would be presented.

He always surprised us and took us on a journey into the past to show us what we could reflect on and absorb into our present.

The first thing he said to us in his first class, was that he wasn’t going to teach us anything other than the skills to access what we would need to know when we would need to know it.

He went beyond teaching us to educating us. Continue reading Don’t Educate. Inspire to Learn: an ‘ode’ to a true teacher.

Swinging into Balance

can u trust

Hold a pendulum in one hand, high up and tightly to any side — then let go — see its swing.

It will swing to the other end; higher possibly than the end you held it at — and then it swings back and then goes back again — and you see this furious swing till eventually it settles down and stops mid point — the point of balance.

Similarly, if you have held yourself tightly in emotional and mental structure; tightly wound up either about your beliefs or your feelings; when you let go — you are going to swing — to the other end and other extreme.

This is a very important aspect to know when you begin self work.

Lets take an example: lets say you have an issue with control. You are a control freak — the day you let go — you will crave and seek freedom — and possibly run away from all structure.

The higher and tighter the pendulum is held on one end; the more dramatic its swing to the other end.

So in your shifts and in letting go you might swing to the extreme of where you were.

It is important to remember this is just a swing. A natural occurrence of being tightly wound up on the other end.

What many of us do is when we reach the other end — we think ahh! We have changed and so we hold onto the other end believing that to be the better end.

So in this case we might say control is one end and the other end is freedom.

Grass is always greener on the other side. Well, not necessarily so.

The key here is that we were meant to shift out of the resonance of ‘control’. Now having moved to another end of the spectrum unfortunately you are still in the spectrum just another end of it. The spectrum of control is still our resonance even though it might be expressed in a manner we feel is better suited to us.

So even if we are structureless – we are still exhibiting an alternate expression of control. It is in experiencing the state of balance that we are able to neither be only controlling or only structureless. It is about embracing both aspects – knowing each has its own value and in merging the two; in bringing them together, you experience the beautiful alchemy of the two ends of the spectrum providing you its highest expression.

When you let go of both ends you begin to settle into your own balance and ease.

Now comes the disclaimer : 🙂 Continue reading Swinging into Balance

Energetic potential of your web.

Did you know that the spiders web adjusts to electrically received stimuli that enhances its ability and potential to attract and capture its prey.

The web of energy that we exude, its structure and expression does the same.

It energetically pulses out information and attracts what it is in resonance with that energetic pulsation.

A spiders web can change its form and pulsation to attract the insects it desires, and so can we.

light spider web

Our energetic web is a magnet to other similar energetic frequencies. The energy you transmit is the energy you attract.

A dense heavy web of energy is going to attract dense heavy energetic experiences.

A light fluid flowing web of energy is going to attract light filled fluid flowing experiences.

You choose the web of energy you create.

What the spider taught me about structure

Structure and Energy, teachings of the amazing Spider

We all exist within structure. Its part of what makes us who we are.

We have physical structure to begin with so we are not actually just floating atoms talking to each other telepathically; but there is form and structure in the world that we exist in.

We see similar structure in less tangible terms too — such as our individual persona which structures our reality; extending out to familial, cultural, religious, corporate, governmental structure.

Structure is a common set of rules that we apply to our lives. Sort of a one size fits all, set of controls, that overlays all that we do, think and feel.

It is rigid and heavy and dense like most of what we see around us. It stands proud and strong and unbending to any off road possibilities that might come its way. Our homes, our bodies our world and everything that we connect with, expresses this denseness at its core. At times the structure might be totally inappropriate to us or the situation but we apply it anyway because structure comes first. Structure has become a system that we are all expected to fit into whether it be how we parent, educate, work, live, love, express, pray.

Structure was the first thing I remember realising I had lost when I started my journey. Circumstances had dissolved it and I felt like I had no structure left –  whether it be  mental structure (right or wrong); emotional structure (which was erratic) or my physical reality which was in upheaval.
So though a part of me was terrified of feeling radar less and de-structured — it was also strangely and wonderfully liberating. I felt free! Completely free of any fixed form of thinking or being.

For a long time post,  I resisted all structure.

I believe in freedom. I believe in thinking free, feeling freely, expressing my truth, experiencing a life free of any filters that might limit my perceptions of it.

I saw structure as the roadblock to freedom. Freedom for me was doing whatever I wanted to – allowing my full potential to emerge and express itself. I chose a new mantra ‘go with the flow’. Move away from knowing and controlling to just flowing through life and wherever the currents would take me. I would put no framework of any kind and just wait to be taken along for the ride. Some days, I found myself going nowhere.

For how can you go anywhere if you disengage and detach from your expression of life? Where will the flow take you without direction and focus? It might never even reach you and so that waiting for the flow could turn out to be like waiting for Godot.

Realising the balance of structure and freedom was a big learning; it is not to choose one or the other but to provide your free heart the right structure to act, feel, think and express through.

Yet what then is right structure? That is what the Spider taught me.
